ZERO 8
Don’t get fooled by this scooter’s low price. It offers surprisingly great specs and quality finish. Despite being the smallest model made by ZERO, it offers sufficient power, range and a very comfortable chassis, making it a great scooter for the urban environment, as long as you are fine with little more weight.

The ZERO 8 is a high-quality urban model. Its build quality is excellent, offering exceptional combination of power, range, comfort and compactness that can’t be matched by many competing city scooters. This model is an example of how a small powerful city scooter should look like. Its biggest advantage over all other competitors comes, in particular, with the re-designed chassis, featuring two spring shock absorbers on the rear axle and one spring on the front axle. In addition to very comfortable chassis, given its weight and dimensions, it features a 500 W motor capable of handling speeds of up to 40 km/h and a battery providing range of up to 45 km. All parameters and comfort are above standard with both models (ZERO 8 and 9), except for weight that is relatively big, namely 18 kg.
Among small practical city scooters, it is very difficult to find a model that would provide more comfort than the ZERO 8. Although it features a solid 8-inch wheel at the rear, which can not be punctured, its stiffness is greatly balanced by double spring dampers. In this price and size category, where it is common to have no chassis suspension at all (see Xiaomi or Ninebot MAX scooters that are hard as boards, which is kind of reprehensible), the ZERO 8 model is a beacon of hope for a comfortable ride around the city. Moreover, the scooter is equipped with a spring at the front, meaning both wheels are sprung. The fact that ZERO has chosen this unusual but logical combination further enhances comfort. A fully maintenance-free wheel at the rear but with two shock absorbers and a spring at the front with air-filled wheel assisting in partially filtering out vibrations while riding. This is a combination minimizing the flat tire risk while maximizing comfort.
The ZERO 8 is equipped with a single 500 W motor installed at the rear. The motor delivers its power without any unnecessary jerking and in a pleasant way, being sufficient for reaching the top speed of up to 40 km/h, which is more than enough for using a scooter in a city. 500 W is not afraid of mild inclines, particularly when the scooter does not carry a rider too heavy. The power is controlled by a controller capable of handling up to 20 A, which means that it has been designed with reasonable spare capacity contributing to is long serviceable life. The range depends on the selected battery. The larger one provides 13 Ah at 48V, a total of 624 Wh, being sufficient for above-standard range of 45 km. The slightly cheaper variant provides 10.4 Ah (499 Wh), which is enough for about 35 km, if riding economically. Those are fantastic specs in this price category, which are further improved by the scooter’s best chassis among small city scooters.
Small city scooters always require some kind of a compromise and the ZERO 8 is no exception. The ZERO 8 has one brake (pretty common in this class) that is a mechanical one and brakes the rear wheel. This is no electromagnetic brake but a standard drum brake controlled by a lever on the handlebars. The advantage of this solution being that it is maintenance free. With such a small and light scooter, we prefer this solution over disc brakes, which do not brake any better yet require more maintenance and often produce screeching sounds or vibrate while braking. Given the absent front brake, it is important to get used to the fact that it is necessary to lean backwards while braking, thereby transferring the weight to the rear wheel and making the scooter braking much better than expected. The scooter brakes similarly to other models in this category, which rely on electromagnetic braking (such as Booster models made by E-Twow, Xiaomi scooters and the like). Further contributing to comfort are its very comfortable chassis and the lights integrated into the scooter’s body, shining both at the front and rear. We do not like the absence of a front brake as we think that safety should always come first. If you are considering this model, also have a look at its brother – ZERO 9, which boasts slightly better parameters while weighing the same and, more importantly, comes equipped with a front disc brake.
The black-red combination is a unique signature of all ZERO models and looks fantastic on the 8 model. As one of few scooters, the 8 has its own design language, making it stand out among all other scooters in this category that look similar as one oak leaf to another. Despite being the cheapest and smallest model made by ZERO, this scooter gives a quality, even luxurious impression and looks more expensive than actually is. The rear shock absorbers and the front spring in red finish highlight the fact that this is a comfortable model that is not afraid of our bumpy roads and pavements. The cabling is relatively well hidden inside the scooter’s body, which in turn looks clean and elegant. The design, similar to the entire ZERO brand, is primarily based on functionality that is thought through in every detail and looks elegant.
With its weight of 18 kg, it is not the lightest powerful electric city scooter, as this category continues to be ruled by E-Twow. However, it is a reasonable alternative with a slightly more comfortable chassis, mechanical rear brake and a favourable price (given its specs). The scooter is a little more robust, which is naturally reflected in its weight. However, it counterbalances it with greater comfort, overall toughness and definitely with stronger, wider and more comfortable handlebars that are easily foldable and, at the same time, strong. The excellent foldability allows taking the scooter wherever you go. You can leave it under a chair in a café or in a restaurant where it won’t be obstructing anybody. The scooter’s great advantage is high reliability contributing to the good feeling of ZERO 8 always taking you comfortably where you need to go. The advantage also comes with integrated lights and a maintenance-free brake, meaning you only need to stand up and ride.
The ZERO 8 is a good choice for an urban environment, if you are looking for a powerful scooter for a reasonable price. Its biggest competitors are the models made by E-Twow, which rule the category of ultra-light scooters and weigh about 6 kg less while offering similar specs on paper. However, the specs on paper do not tell the whole story and when it comes to comfort and scooter’s overall strength, the ZERO 8 has a slight advantage. The question thus remains whether you prefer the lowest possible weight or a little more comfortable ride. Make sure to check out the ZERO 9 model before your purchase, which has slightly better specs and, in particular, better safety thanks to the front disc brake. The ZERO brand was established in Singapore in 2017 as a brand owned by an experienced personal electromobility dealer specializing in electric scooters. This makes it a relatively young brand that has managed to reach the global top in its short existence and rightly ranks among the best brands on the market. ZERO sees electric scooters as an intelligent alternative to other modes of transport, both inside and outside the city, being highly efficient, inexpensive, environmentally friendly and bringing ZERO emissions to a city. ZERO offers the alternative with smaller dimensions, as well as carbon footprint, enabling more enjoyable and more responsible journey not only where you can get by a car or public transport, but also where you can only go with a scooter. The birth of the ZERO brand came in response to the lack of options for riders who had to choose between performance, practicality, and the price. The ZERO’s goal is to offer a complete family of models meeting the individual needs of users without having to make big compromises and, at the same time, bringing them the joy of riding their scooters. In recent years, ZERO has established a strong foothold in the market and created a brand offering a complete range of models reaching top spots in their categories, representing a viable alternative to other brands at a great price.
We offer all ZERO models (8, 9, 10, 8X, 10X, and 11X).
